Busted!

It only took eleven internal memos from both sides of the Atlantic to convince a plurality of Americans that Bush and Blair had their minds set about invading Iraq long before they came up with the WMD excuse.

A Tiny Revolution spells it out here:

Quote of the Day

I've never found Jimmy Kimmel particularly funny, but he knocked this one out of the park.

"Congress has approved a new ceiling for the national debt. They had to, it was going to go past the legal limit, so they just raised it. And our new national debt is $9 trillion, not billion. Every American owes $30,000, including kids. Bush borrowed $30,000 from each of us and blew it on Hummers and grenade launchers. It's like we're all married to Kevin Federline."

I am a liberal. And I make no apologies for it. Hell, I'm proud of it.

Too many people run away from the label. They whisper it like you'd whisper "I'm a Nazi." Like it's a dirty word. But turn away from saying "I'm a liberal" and it's like you're turning away from saying that blacks should be allowed to sit in the front of the bus, that women should be able to vote and get paid the same as a man, that McCarthy was wrong, that Vietnam was a mistake. And that Saddam Hussein had no ties to al-Qaeda and had nothing to do with 9/11.

Iraq is not on the verge of civil war, the Pentagon's top general said Sunday, though he acknowledged that "anything can happen" in the beleaguered nation.

"If wishes were horses, Bush could ride off into the sunset of his second term secure in the knowledge of a democratic Iraq and a middle East remade. Since they're not, he's just going to have to rely upon enablers like Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff Gen. Peter Pace, who continues to insist that all is hunky-dory in Iraq."

Gittin' Them Evildoers

Bush, yesterday, with Hamid Karzai in Afghanistan:

Q I'd like to ask you, Mr. President, there was a time when you talked about getting Osama bin Laden dead or alive. Why is he still on the loose five years later? And are you still confident that you'll get him?

PRESIDENT BUSH: I am confident he will be brought to justice. What's happening is, is that we got U.S. forces on the hunt for not only bin Laden, but anybody who plots and plans with bin Laden. There are Afghan forces on the hunt for not only bin Laden, but those who plot and plan with him. We've got Pakistan forces on the hunt. And part of my message to President Musharraf is, is that it's important that we bring these people to justice. He understands that. After all, they've tried to kill him four times. So we've got a common alliance, all aimed at routing out people who are evildoers, people who have hijacked a great religion and kill innocent people in the name of that religion.

What religion are you talking about, Mr. President? Christianity? If so, I know where you can go to start "routing out" the evildoers.
